Significance

A broad number of thiomethyl-substituted heterocycles like pyridines, pyrimidines, triazines, pyrazoles, quinazolines, etc. can be coupled at room temperature with readily available functionalized aryl-, heteroaryl-, benzyl- and alkyl-zinc compounds in the presence of a Pd/S-Phos catalytic system. This is an excellent method for the preparation of polysubstituted heterocycles.
