Summary

  1. The unsaponifiable matter of the lipid, which amounted to about 17 %, was found to contain fucosterol (C29H48O, m. p. 124–125° C).

  2. The thin–layer and gas–liquid Chromatographie analyses of the fatty acids revealed the presence of oleic, linoleic, linolenic, myristic, palmitic, stearic, arachidic, behenic and lignoceric.

  3. The study of the free sugars revealed the presence of raffinose, sucrose, glucose and fructose.

  4. The mucilage, isolated from the tubers, (2.7 %), was found to be composed of glucose, galactose and arabinose.

Zusammenfassung
