NATURAL COUMARINS
XI. The Distribution of Coumarins in the Ammi majus L. Plant and a Possible Pattern for their Biogenetic EvolutionPublication History
Publication Date:
15 January 2009 (online)
Summary
Using a novel TLC method depending on the photometric–densitometric measurement of the Chromatographie spots, it was possible to study the distribution of coumarins in the Ammi rnajus L. plant in the various organs at all stages of growth. Some views are expressed on the possible biogenetic relationships of these products. It is suggested that marmesin is the primitive prototype which affords ' the methoxylated products xanthotoxin, bergapten and isopimpinellin and the more elaborate models imperatorin and isoimperatorin.
