Summary

The occurence of a right sided pneumothorax in a 58-year-old male patient as a complication of a pneumoperitoneum during peritoneoscopy is described in detail. The possible causes of this complication are discussed, whereby etiologically either a congenitally present fissure or a rupture of the right hemidiaphragm from a previous accident in 1955 could have been responsible for this event.
