Summary
Mediastinoscopy is a conventional method for exploration and biopsy in superior mediastinum. This method can be used in cases with proven pulmonary carcinoma in order to assess operability. Moreover the mediastinoscopy can be employed for differential diagnostic purpose in a variety of diseases. Our experience proved that mediastinoscopy is a safe and relatively simple method.
